"Are you moving poorly because you are in pain - or are you in pain because you are moving poorly?"

Clinical Exercise Sessions

Clinical Exercise Sessions are used at Optimum Movement as an adjunct to physiotherapy.  These sessions will incorporate a range of clinically appropriate exercises determined by your physiotherapist.  These sessions are generally based on Pilates-informed exercises combined with the most recent research into injury prevention and rehabilitation.  The physio-led sessions may employ the use of the Pilates equipment as part of the rehabilitation process.

Prior to attending a Clinical Exercise Session all clients need to book in for a one-on-one session with the physiotherapist so treatment goals can be established and an individualised, exercise-based treatment program can be prescribed.  In some cases this will predominantly consist of reformer-based exercises.  A regular review and progression of your program will then be coordinated with your physiotherapist.

As these sessions are physiotherapist led and form part of your rehab program they can often be claimed through most private health insurance.  It is best to check with your insurer prior to your session.

Reformer Pilates

Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact, muscular control exercises.  Our Reformer Pilates classes provide a movement-based exercise class for all abilities.  They foster improved movement by developing enhanced balance, strength, flexibility and coordination.  These sessions are small group sessions of 2-3 people and are physiotherapist led.

NOTE: Due to the Federal Government’s Private Health Insurance reforms Pilates classes are no longer claimable under Private Health Insurance.  Optimum Movement does however provide Clinical Exercise Sessions which are claimable under some private health insurance policies.

Kids Pilates

The Kids Pilates sessions involve mat-based Pilates exercises catering to children with motor control issues.  The controlled movements of the Pilates exercises work to improve flexibility, build strength, and develop control and endurance through the entire body.  These sessions are small group sessions of 3-4 children and are physiotherapist led.
