I am so passionate about helping children to reach their potential. I love seeing them succeed in their goals and put the skills they learn in physio into their lives outside therapy.
Some Fun Facts About Alana
Where were you born / Where did you grow up? I was born in Sydney but grew up in Cairns. I am a Queenslander through and through.
What did you love to do as a kid? I grew up swimming in waterholes, riding my bike in cane fields and enjoying the FNQ sunshine.
What did you want to be when you were growing up? I always knew I wanted to be a physio – came from all the injuries playing sport when I was younger. But there was also a secret dream of being a fighter pilot.
What is your favourite food? Anything seafood! And almond croissants.
Where is your favourite holiday destination? Anywhere I can hike, swim and explore nature.
Where in the world would you like to go where you haven’t been before? I would love to go to the Philippines for the scuba diving and Norway for the hiking.
Tell us an interesting fact about you. I am currently teaching myself to skateboard and play piano. Hoping you can teach an old dog new tricks.
What is your life motto? When you know better, you do better.
Alana has has over 16 years experience working as a physio, with over 13 of those years working with children. She has experienced many areas of paediatric physiotherapy within the public system, including Queensland Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (QPRS) and complex orthopaedics. Alana has worked as a physiotherapist within the community and private settings, seeing a vast range of children and conditions; from babies for gross motor and orthopaedic development, through to teenagers with neurological conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida and other complex presentations.
Alana has vast experience with the Intensive Therapy model and believes this is an excellent way to engage children and their family in therapy to achieve gross motor and functional goals. She has completed training in the Universal Exercise Unit (UEU) and Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) and incorporates these therapy modalities into her daily practice.
Alana has a love of baby development, neuro-rehabilitation and orthopaedics and is also involved in inclusive sports within the community.
